Description: Circle time is only one piece of a high-quality early childhood learning environment. This training helps early childhood educators understand how children learn throughout the entire day—during play, routines, transitions, small groups, and one-on-one interactions. Participants will explore a variety of instructional formats and learn how to intentionally balance teacher-led, child-led, and embedded learning experiences across all age groups. Educators will leave with practical strategies to support engagement, development, and learning for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers while meeting diverse needs in real classroom settings.
By the end of this course, you will be able to…
- Identify multiple instructional formats (e.g., large group, small group, individual, play-based, and routine-based learning) and explain how each supports development across different early childhood age groups.
- Apply developmentally appropriate instructional strategies during daily routines, transitions, and play to intentionally support learning for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.
- Design a balanced daily learning approach that integrates various instructional formats to increase engagement, promote active learning, and meet the diverse needs of children in early childhood classrooms.
