Transportation Training

Description

This course presents recommended practices and policies for the safe, developmentally appropriate transport of young children to and from childcare centers. Information is based primarily on federal safety standards, which are generally used as the basis for state standards, though specific regulations vary from state to state.

Topics: Specific equipment and documentation to keep in the vehicle, Emergency procedures, Communication between program and driver before, during, and after transport, Pick up and delivery of children, Maintenance, and inspection of vehicles, Field trip procedures, Minimum Standard requirements for transportation, Supervision, Child passenger safety seat information, Safety in and around vehicles, Unloading and double-checking vehicles after unloading and Specific vehicle safety (i.e. bus, 15 passenger vans).
