Description: Handbooks, memos, and meetings only go so far when setting expectations for staff and families. This course equips directors with strategies to communicate expectations in ways that stick, through onboarding practices, consistent follow-through, and a program culture where accountability is understood and embraced by everyone. Participants will also explore practical approaches to strengthening communication, addressing misunderstandings before they become conflicts, and creating systems that promote consistency, trust, and shared responsibility across the entire program.
By the end of this training, you will be able to:
- Analyze common causes of unmet expectations between staff, families, and leadership to identify communication gaps and barriers to understanding.
- Apply effective communication strategies to clarify expectations, reinforce policies, and build collaborative relationships with staff and families.
- Develop practical systems and action plans that promote accountability, consistency, and long-term alignment between staff and families while addressing resistance and conflict professionally.
